How can I back up and restore my logbook (e.g. on a new device) without a sync subscription?

I need to transfer my logbook to a new phone, but I don’t have the sync subscription.

Smart Logbook includes functionality to manually backup and restore your logbook data. This is a reasonable alternative to the cloud sync, if you don’t have the sync subscription. You can use it to transfer your flights when you switch devices, by creating a single file with all your data and then restoring it to the new device. You can (and should) also make periodic backups of your logbook just in case your device is lost, broken, or stolen.

iOS:

To back up your logbook:

  1. More > Export > Backup File.
  2. Tap Export at the top right to generate the backup file (.zip).
  3. Tap Save/Send and choose the destination.

To restore your logbook:

  1. Copy the backup file (.zip) to the device where you want to restore your logbook.
  2. More > Import > Backup File.
  3. Tap the “File” row and select the file from your device.
  4. Tap Import at the top.

After a few moments, your logbook will be restored from the backup file. By default, any existing data will be deleted before the data from the file is restored. You can change this using the “Existing Data” option on the Import screen.

Android:

To back up your logbook:

  1. Go to the main screen (flight list).
  2. Tap the menu (⋮) at the top right.
  3. Select Export > Backup File.
  4. Tap Backup to generate the backup file (.zip).
  5. Tap Save/Send and choose the destination.

To restore your logbook:

  1. Copy the backup file (.zip) to the device where you want to restore your logbook.
  2. Tap the menu (⋮) at the top right.
  3. Select Import > Backup File.
  4. Tap Restore and select the file from your device.

After a few moments, your logbook will be restored from the backup file. Any existing data will be deleted before the data from the file is restored.
